Outstanding Performance by ECUST at Shanghai College Students Entrepreneurship Competition

Recently, the final round of the 15th “Challenge Cup” Shanghai College Students Entrepreneurship Competition was held at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). In this competition, ECUST secured 10 Grand Prizes, 4 First Prizes, 5 Second Prizes, and 3 Third Prizes. The University tied for the highest number of Grand Prizes among all participating institutions in Shanghai and retained the Excellence Cup.

In this year’s competition, ECUST students demonstrated strong engineering capabilities and sound business planning skills through projects closely aligned with market needs. The participating projects spanned a wide range of fields, including advanced manufacturing, new energy and advanced materials, and biomedicine. The award-winning projects involved students at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, enabling young innovators from different academic stages to grow and make breakthroughs together.

The University has prepared for the competition by connecting projects advancing to the national stage with innovation hubs such as Zhangjiang Science City, accelerating their potential transformation and implementation. Since November 2025, it has promoted project development and team formation through university-level innovation incubation programs such as the Qingli Sci-Tech Innovation Training Camp. A total of 22 projects were selected to represent the University in the municipal competition.

During the preparation, the University integrated internal and external resources and invited experts to provide multiple rounds of one-on-one mentoring. Altogether, 74 expert mentoring engagements were organized, benefiting more than 2,500 participants. Through activities such as peer-sharing sessions, the University also fostered students’ enthusiasm for innovation and encouraged them to focus their creative and entrepreneurial efforts on major national priorities and technological challenges.

Known as the “Olympics” event of scientific and technological innovation for Chinese college students, the “Challenge Cup” serves as an important platform for cultivating innovative talent. Building on this achievement, the University will further promote a virtuous cycle where competition, learning, and innovation reinforce each other, support high-quality projects in advancing to the national-level competitions, turn innovative ideas into practical results, and foster future innovators and entrepreneurs.
