ECUST Students Secured Second Place in the National Chemical Engineering Experiment Competition Finals
Recently, the final round of the 9th “ES-OBER” Cup National Chemical Engineering Experiment Competition concluded at the Zhengzhou University Main Campus. Hosted by the China Chemical Industry Education Association, the competition brought together 252 undergraduate students from 84 universities after multiple rounds of selection across six regional divisions. The finalists competed in three major sections: theoretical assessment, simulation, and hands-on operation. Following comprehensive evaluation by the expert panel, 12 teams received Grand Prizes, 30 teams received First Prizes, and 42 teams received Second Prizes.
The ECUST School of Chemical Engineering team “Pass by and Win an Award” (team members: Nanxing Wang, Haoming Liu, and Boxi Wu; instructors: Hao Sun, Danliu Xiong, and Chuanjie Fan) secured second place nationwide. This achievement marks ECUST’s third consecutive year among the top three universities nationwide in the competition.
The achievement was supported by the School of Chemical Engineering’s preparation and training. The school organized instructor guidance and training, while team members improved their professional and practical skills through repeated practice and teamwork.
Established in 2017, the National Chemical Engineering Experiment Competition has become a major national competition in chemical engineering experimentation and practice. This year’s competition, themed “Setting Sail as Chemical Engineers,” attracted nearly 2,700 teams from 365 universities across six regional divisions. It focused on core competencies in chemical engineering and aimed to strengthen practical education and students’ ability to solve complex engineering problems.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Yanyang Wu, Vice Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering at ECUST, received the competition flag on behalf of the university, marking ECUST as the host institution for the 10th competition finals. ECUST will use the opportunity to improve its experimental teaching system, strengthen students’ engineering practice and innovation capabilities, and promote exchange and collaboration in chemical engineering education.
